Minnesota culture wars
They linger on, even after Michelle Bachmann left. She proposed an amendment to the state constitution that would ban gay marriage (twice) during her time as a state legislator. Now THREE republicans (one of whom is former Secretary of State Mary Kiffemeyer) and THREE democrats have written an amendment banning gay marriage. The bill is one page long, so that says a lot about how much brain power these clowns have.
Sen. John Marty, to his credit, had an amendment earlier this year to make marriage laws gender-neutral (he should run for Governor again).
Some other legislators have a bill that criminalizes small amounts of marijuana. Anybody else think these people have misplaced priorities? With a rising unemployment, a massive budget defecit, this is what they spend their time on?
One of the co-sponsors of both of these bills is Dave Olin, a DFL (!) representative from Thief River Falls.
